I hope that you are not expecting a black-and-white answer on this one, because none exists. As with most purchases, you must decide what is important to you first. At the time of this writing, there are five server virtualization solutions: VMware ESX Server 2.5.3, VMware Server, Microsoft Virtual Server 2005 R2, Xen 3.0, and XenEnterprise.
