Q

VMware HA and VirtualCenter on an ESX host that fails

If you have concerns about your ESX host failing on a virtual machine you're running VirtualCenter on, expert Andrew Kutz has some advice for you in this expert response.

If you run VirtualCenter on a virtual machine that is within a cluster and the ESX host fails, will VMware HA migrate the VirtualCenter server to a new ESX host?

No. VMware HA will restart the VirtualCenter virtual machine on a new ESX host, but HA does not migrate anything....

It restarts virtual machines from a powered-off state on a new ESX host.
