QUESTION POSED ON: 21 September 2006
I am at the start of a server consolidation project. I have a few candidates for virtualization that need a modem attached. The server I have has no legacy serial ports (USB). What is the standard practice to support this configuration? I thought about getting something like a 4pt Digi card but I have no idea if the ESX server could even see such a thing.

This thread at the Digi forums indicates that this is not a supported solution. My suggestion to you is to purchase a PCI card with some serial ports on it if this is a configuration that you are required to see to fruition.
