QUESTION POSED ON: 13 March 2008
I am new to VMware ESX server and currently have two ESX 3.5 servers up and running. One quick question ...
I would like to upload all of the ISO images I have for Windows, SQL, Linux, etc. that I use to create servers, to the VMware server so I do not have to load the CDs. Once I connect to the unit using my WinSCP client, which folder should I use to hold the ISO images? Is there a particular folder that the VMs will be able to access in order to install and reference the ISO images at a later time? You can put the ISO images anywhere, but two caveats: They must be on shared storage so that all of your ESX servers can see them and the user mounting them must be able to browse the datastore they are on. We have some Ghost images created and we would like to convert those into bootable CD/DVD ISO format. Is it possible to do that?
