VMware's support policy for its free ESXi hypervisor is fanning the Hyper-V vs. VMware flames.

VMware has told Veeam Software to stop supporting ESXi in its new Backup and Replication 3.1 offering. The move raises questions about VMware's approach to ESXi: Is it supposed to be for production deployments, or is it just a trial version?

In this edition of This Week in Virtualization, News Director Alex Barrett talks about VMware's support policy for its free ESXi hypervisor and how it could drive customers to Microsoft Hyper-V R2. The podcast also features news on Microsoft's System Center Virtual Machine Manager R2 release candidate.
