The VMware licensing policy for vSphere has hit customers with some unexpected expenses.

VMware has added a new top-level license, Enterprise Plus, which is more expensive than the current Enterprise license. And VMware plans to stop selling Enterprise licenses by the end of the year, which came as a surprise to existing customers -- who hadn't planned on the additional expenses.

In this edition of This Week in Virtualization, virtualization expert and VMware customer Eric Siebert discusses the vSphere licensing policy controversy and its effects on users. The podcast also features news on Cisco Systems' new virtualization director, Christofer Hoff, and the release of XenServer 5.5.
