LAS VEGAS -- The editors of Needham, Mass.-based TechTarget Inc.'s SearchServerVirtualization.com today announced the winners of the Best of VMworld 2008 Awards, selected from 196 product entrants at the VMworld 2008 conference being held this week at the Venetian Hotel in Las Vegas.
An independent team of judges consisting of 13 independent experts, analysts and editors from SearchServerVirtualization.com and its sister site, SearchVMware.com, reviewed and evaluated the products according to innovation, value, performance, reliability and ease of use.
"We spent hours and hours discussing and arguing over who should win these awards, and in many cases they were close calls," said Jan Stafford, the editorial director for TechTarget's Data Center Media Group.
The awards cover eight categories: data protection software; security and virtualization; application and infrastructure management; hardware for virtualization; desktop virtualization; storage software for virtualization; new technology, and best of show.
Only products currently available for purchase were considered for all categories. Products being demonstrated but not available for purchase were considered only for the New Technology category.
