Hyper-V Linux Integration Components available for download
Virtual PC Guy's Weblog reports that Linux Integration Components for Microsoft Hyper-V are available from Microsoft's download center. When installed in a Linux virtual machine running on Hyper-V, the Linux Integration Components provide drivers for a synthetic network and storage controllers, a Hypercall adapter for better performance, and Fastpath Boot support. In addition, Xen.org released mouse drivers for Linux virtual machines last month, available here.
Vizioncore EcoShell beta drops
Vizioncore released the beta of its Virtualization EcoShell, a free graphical toolkit based on PowerShell for automating systems management tasks in virtual environments. The Virtualization EcoShell can automate any PowerShell-supported technology, including VMware environments and Microsoft applications. It provides pre-defined and customizable reports based on HTML, XML and CSV formats, an integrated development environment, and simplifies documentation of a virtual infrastructure, including host, virtual machine, storage and network configurations. The tool can be downloaded from the Virtualization EcoShell Initiative community forum Web site.
Hitachi supports VMware SRM in midrange storage arrays
Storage vendor Hitachi Data Systems released a version of its Storage Replication Adapter for VMware vCenter Site Recovery Manager, extending SRM support to its midrange Hitachi Adaptable Modular Storage (AMS) family of arrays. With the Storage Replication Adapter, Hitachi AMS customers that want to use VMware SRM can select from one of Hitachi's many replication engines, including Hitachi Universal Replicator, Hitachi TrueCopy Synchronous, Hitachi TrueCopy Extended Distance and Hitachi ShadowImage. The new Storage Replication Adapter is available immediately.
