NetEx HyperIP certified for VMware SRM
Network Executive Software's HyperIP WAN optimization software is now certified to run with VMware vCenter Site Recovery Manager (SRM), VMware's tool for automating disaster recovery processes across geographically separate data centers. HyperIP's role is to accelerate data transfer operations like long-distance replication, backup and restore by moving TCP data more efficiently and minimizing the effects of network latency and disruption. It works across a variety of VMware-enabled data replication and file transfer applications, including VMware VMotion, Veeam Backup and Replicator, IBM Tivoli Storage Manager, Data Domain Replicator, and DataCore Asynchronous IP Mirroring, at data rates ranging from 1 Mbps to 800 Mbps. Pricing starts at approximately $1,700 per license.
Centrify manages Unix virtualization with Active Directory
In the absence of another identity management and access control suite, virtualization systems based on Unix or Linux can now be brought into the Microsoft Active Directory fold with the release of Centrify Corp.'s Centrify Suite 3, which adds support for 11 new virtualization platforms, bringing the total to 180 operating environments overall.
Supported platforms include VMware ESX, VMA and vStudio; Citrix XenServer; IBM AIX system and application logical partitioning (LPAR) and workload partitioning (WPAR); Sun Solaris 10 Sparse Zones (Containers) and Solaris xVM (Xen-based hypervisor); Hewlett Packard's HP-UX Virtual Server Environment including Virtual Partitions (vPars) and hard partitions (nPars) as well as HP Virtual Machines; IBM z/Linux running SUSE; Red Hat virtualization built into Red Hat Enterprise Linux; Novell SUSE Xen-based virtualization; and non-Microsoft Guest OSes running on Microsoft Hyper-V.
