The laundry list of new and updated Hyper-V 3.0 features certainly sounds appealing, and Microsoft has spared no expense touting the ease of management, improved security, increased scalability and disaster recovery options associated with the hypervisor.
But the upgrade could cost a pretty penny and even prove more trouble than it's worth if you don't do your homework and keep your infrastructure's needs and requirements in mind. The hypervisor has plenty of bells and whistles, but those fancy features won't benefit every data center in the same way. Some Hyper-V 3.0 features may even require additional hardware or software, putting more stress on already tight IT budgets.
