Systems and performance management
Gold Award:
Akorri BalancePoint 2.3
The Systems and performance management software you choose can make all the difference in the amount of value you get out of a virtualized environment, but finding a vendor-agnostic product with all the necessary features that doesn't require a Ph.D. can be hard to come by.
One company that offers these capabilities and much more is Littleton, Mass.-based Akorri with its BalancePoint 2.3 systems and performance management software, making it the 2008 Gold winner in the Systems Management and Performance category.
"In the crowded field of virtual system management, Akorri BalancePoint performs well and with ease of use," the panel of judges reported. "The biggest obstacle with virtual environment management tools is the initial learning curve. BalancePoint's easy going interfaces can get administrators up and running quickly with the information they need to make informed decisions on their virtual infrastructure."
In addition to managing both the physical and virtual resources for each application running on a virtual machine (VM), Akkori's BalancePoint software gives IT visibility into how storage, networks, and servers are all connected. It also alerts IT to performance or utilization problems; recommends remedies; identifies which VMs are hogging resources; provides daily updates on the efficiency and current needs for the environment, and helps IT plan future resource requirements through a flexible reporting system.
BalancePoint has received much acclaim, including the Silver award for SearchDataCenter.com's Products of the Year in 2007 and SearchServerVirtualization.com's Gold award for best performance monitoring and optimization product at VMworld 2007.
