Virtual desktop infrastructure
Gold Award:
RingCube Technologies vDesk 1.1
RingCube's vDesk 1.1 software gives end users a way to access their virtual desktops both on- and offline without being tied to their office PC. While offline, users can access their virtual workspace anytime and anywhere with either a portable drive like a USB, flash memory, smartphone or a PC through the vDesk MobileSync technology -- eliminating the ties to a specific PC or laptop.
When users are in the office, they are automatically prompted to check in and synchronize their vDesk Workspace to the network. Once checked in, the user can access their vDesk workspace through VDI and have all the changes that were made offline reflected in their online vDesk workspace.
"RingCube leads the way thanks to their innovative features like flexible deployment, offline desktop, and no second OS license needed," the judges reported.
When Mountain View, Calif.-based RingCube first introduced the vDesk 1.1 software in September 2008, the 4-year-old company received accolades and was named a finalist in the Best of VMworld 2008 awards for virtual desktop software.
