VMware error help

In this tip, Andrew Kutz helps a reader fix an error he has while trying to run his VMware virtual machines.

I have installed Windows Server 2003 Standard in VMware Server. When I try to start this virtual machine I get the following error message:

"Windows can not start this virtual machine because the file System32/ config is missing or corrupted"

Can you help?

Please pardon me if I am being presumptuous, but perhaps the error actually said:

Windows count not start because the following file is missing or corrupt: WINDOWSSYSTEM32CONFIGSYSTEM

If this is the case it means that this is actually a Windows problem. Lucky for you I happen to know the KB article that tells you how to fix it!
